The day started great with actual breakfast, we were starving after not eating for 24 hours. Then with a couple hours of failed research trying to find a campervan, we took a break to go to One Tree Hill. One Tree Hill is now an inactive volcano that was Maori land. When the volcano erupted it was actually the 2nd largest Auckland volcanic field. Because of the rich sediment from the volcano there was one tree that grew larger than the rest. This being said we climbed to the top expecting to see a tree, there was none. We asked this lovely lady about it who said the tree had not been there in decades, instead the English built a monument where the tree was torn down.
The weather, man it’s going to take some getting use to. At one point I was in a t-shirt, 10 minutes later I was in 3 layers, then back to a t-shirt
The best part about One Tree Hill was there were sheep everywhere. Sheep and little lambs, it was the best day! Their little bahhhs oh my gosh I couldn’t even handle it, and they just cross roads whenever they feel like it. I love sheep.
No famous tree but all smiles
Casual walk up a volcano
So many dreams coming true!!!!
Wore my one tree hill shirt because I was obviously prepared.
Fun Fact: The naming of the teen television drama, One Tree Hill and the show's final episode, was inspired in turn by the U2 song. In the series Andy Hargrove hails from New Zealand. His mother moved the family to Tree Hill, North Carolina because of the common name.
